Well, I have been pretty quiet on this blog for the last little while, so I thought I would take some time to share a little about what the Boodhoo family has been upto.

We just recently decided to give away the majority of our material possessions, sell our house and embark on a completely new adventure. That adventure entails us moving to Austin!! Over the last year my family and I have fell in love with the Austin area. The people are friendly, the weather is amazing, and there seems to be no shortage of work for software developers.

"Why in the world did you give away all of your stuff?" is the question I am sure that a lot of people are asking. When we talk to people about this, we let them know that we really felt strongly that the Lord was directing us to bless our family and friends with the blessings he had provided us with. The response has been more amazing than we could have imagined, and we know that God used us to impact them in ways we could not have thought about. It also helped us as a family to live what we speak and demonstrate that we are not bound/defined by what we have. The kids are learning amazing lessons about what is truly "valuable" during this process.

For the last week my family and I have been living out of a hotel, swimming almost every day and enjoying spending a lot of time together. The kids are having an absolute blast. Next week we are going to be in Austin to do some house hunting, I will be doing the majority of the browsing this weekend as I will be leading another Nothin But .Net Bootcamp.

We are extremely excited about the opportunities that the Lord has in store for us, and we bravely step out of the land of "Familiar" in order to pursue our "Big Dream" (if you are curious about those terms, pick up a copy of the book "The Dream Giver").

What does the future hold for us? One day at a time, we are going to find out!!

Next Monday I start another iteration of the Nothin But .Net coding bootcamp. It looks like it will be a blast, but just as exciting is the trip to the course!! This past Wednesday the family and I headed out in the trusty family van, an embarked on a long drive to Richmond, VA!!!!

We have been blessed with amazing travelers, and there is quite a sense of accomplishment when you cross another state line!! It is hard to describe the awesomeness of traveling cross country with your family in tow. God is good.

The nice thing about doing a 40+ hour drive, is that you set the bar extremely high for future trips. Which means that most any other drive we make after this will be trivial in comparison.

It is definitely not something you can do all the time, but I think that everyone should take the opportunity to try it at least once. You may surprise yourself.

Seeing as how this is a personal announcement, I shouldn't be surprised that I did not announce this sooner. Last week my wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary!! At 28 (we got married right out of high school) and 4 kids later, we have been blessed beyond measure.

Here are a couple of tips that have really helped us solidify a strong relationship:

  • Talk about everything
  • Compromise
  • Remember that it's not all about "you"
  • Pray together
  • Laugh together
  • Set goals together and work together to achieve them
  • Don't hide from conflict
  • Cuddle Lots

I could keep on listing these, but I don't want this post to turn into "Tips for a successful marriage".

The main point was to shout out this personal milestone that we both feel extremely blessed to have achieved.

This is something I should have blogged about a long time ago (although seeing how I keep my personal life very private, it should be no surprise). My amazingly talented sister has been hard at work recording songs for an album she is working on. Head over to her myspace page if you are interested in hearing some of her stuff. As well as being an incredible singer, she is also an extremely loving mother and wife!! I am very proud of her.

Request her songs on your local radio stations, and let's spread the word about her awesome music.

We have recently had a family member pass away (my wife’s grandma). To that end, I will be out of the blogging loop for the next week or so.

Thanks
